Skin Care > Acne Milia

So I have had problems with this little white acne called "milia"  I have been going to my facialist regularly to remove them. To tell you the truth I am so sick and tired of it! It is quite painful, but about a month ago I just stopped going to my facialist to remove them. Why?  After doing extensive research on this use piece of shit that keeps popping up, I realized something, the more I remove them, the more they come back.  So I asked...why do I even have them?!

I called up my cosmetology teacher and she explained it is either my sweat glands are not fully developed or its hereditary. Okay, so I guess I have both, everyone in my family has an EXCESSIVE sweating problem, but I seem to have the opposite, I have to work out inside the sauna to sweat. My mom's side of the family have REALLY bad milia problems.

So what is MILIA? It is those white bumps that appear on your skin, no its not white heads (there are no oil or pore under a mila, it is simply a cyst of protein collected on your skin.)

Okay, mine aren't as bad as those two examples but that is only because I have been removing them. It would be a lot worse than that if I didn't take care of it.  So, I tried a few methods to reduce and slowly remove the milia on my face, and I haven't had a problem with them lately.

Tips on Reducing-Then Actually Removing Milia
( these tips are to reduce MILIA, you will eventually have to have a professional remove what is left of them, and it wouldn't be as a big problem as it was before, these tips can also be used to prevent future MILIA)

(1) Use a scrub DAILY (try something gentle, not TOO abrasive, I have had marks from over scrubbing before) I am using St Ives Pore Cleanser w/ scrubbing beads

(2) ALWAYS wear SUNBLOCK the sun can cause irritation and make those little sucker bigger.

(3) AVOID using anything with high amounts of acid on it (such as salicylic acid, glycolic acid)

(3) DO NOT TO ATTEMPT TO REMOVE MILIA ON YOUR OWN!!! That is a big OUCH! ...and you will probably fail at removing all the protein.  If you gently exfoliate regularly keep yourself moisturized (drink your h2o, then when you are ready go see a PROFESSIONAL to remove those suckers...keep doing these tips to prevent those pesky suckers from coming back)

  2. I "suggest" you read my post AGAIN. I am not a DERMATOLOGIST, these are WHAT I use to prevent more MILIA. I am not here to TEACH you how to REMOVE MILIA, as stated you SHOULD seek a professional for REMOVAL. These are NOT tips to remove MILIA, they could however HELP. Happy hunting, ANON.
